BREAD OF LIFE

THE LOVE OF GOD

God is Love!!! True love is never static or inactive. God reveals His love to mankind in many ways. He has geared all of creation to meet men’s needs. Because God is love, He must communicate—not only in words but in deeds. God proves His love by giving all humanity its most precious gift. Why would men need such a gift?

Humanity has a sin problem!!!!

THE SIN PROBLEM…

What is sin? Sin is a wrong relationship with God that expresses itself in wrong attitudes or actions towards God himself, other human beings, possessions, or the environment. Sin results from the Fall, at which the creation rebels against God, its Creator. All human beings sin and are guilty in the sight of God on account of an inherently sinful disposition, which can be traced back to Adam. Acts of sin thus arise from a sinful human heart. This condition is deeply rooted in human nature, and only God can break its penalty, power, and presence.

The Bible says,

For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

God’s Judgement of Sin

Sin comes under the judgment of God in that it contradicts His nature and opposes His purposes.

What is the penalty of God’s judgment of sin? DEATH

The Bible says,

For the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23a)

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because all sinned— (Romans 5:12)

God Demonstrates His Love by offering the Gift of Eternal Life.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

But God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

How do I receive this gift?

The Bible says,

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved! For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

How can I be assured of God’s gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ?

The Bible says,

For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)

Jesus says, Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. (John 5:24)

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38–39)

Nothing you could ever experience, no matter how terrible or frightening, could separate you from God's love. We are free from judgment because Christ died for us, and we have His righteousness. We are free from defeat because Christ lives in us by His Spirit, and we share His life. We are free from discouragement because Christ is coming for us, and we shall share His glory. We are free from fear because Christ intercedes for us, and we cannot be separated from His love. If God be for us, who can be against us? God loves you; He invites you to join Him on a victorious journey with a heavenly destination.

My Prayer to God,

The following prayer expresses the desire to trust Christ alone for eternal salvation. If its words speak of your own heart’s desire, praying them can be the link that will connect you to God.

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner, and there is nothing that I can do to save myself. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin or to work my way to heaven. I now trust Christ alone as the One who bore my sin when He died on the cross. I believe that He did all that will ever be necessary for me to stand in Your holy presence. I thank you for Christ being raised from the dead as a guarantee of my own resurrection. As best as I can, I now place my trust in Him. I am grateful that He has promised to receive me despite my many sins and failures. Father, I take you at your word. I thank you for allowing me to face death now that you are my Savior. Thank you for the assurance that you will walk with me through the deep valley. Thank you for hearing this prayer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
